We finally made it to the hotel and registered. We bumped into fellow Browncoat Ball attendees almost immediately. I was feeling excited! We dropped our stuff off in our room then headed down to BCB registration. The badge was fucking awesome! [pictures here] The Philly committee came up with the brilliant idea to make Passports to be used as badges! They look fantastic. There are watermark planets inside and they stapled our tickets, schedule, etc inside and gave us a nifty badge holder to wear around our necks.
We chatted for a bit, admired the Passports some more and then went back to our room for a little bit. Then it was time to head to that night's gathering at Buffalo Billiards.
On our way, we stopped to have a cheesesteak sandwich and I thought it was pretty good. Then we headed to Buffalo Billiards, making a stop or 2 along the way - one stop being a tiny dog friendly park. We watched the dogs for a little while and then continued on our way. We arrived at BB pretty early and the area reserved for us was not ready yet so we sat outside and people watched. We also got to see as Browncoats arrived in their finery. Also, we were frightened a couple of times because - despite the fact that the streets in the area are extremely narrow (yet still cars parked along both sides of the street), and the streets are cobblestoned (and time has taken it's toll - the street is very uneven with dips and bumps) - huge double-decker buses drove too fast down the street, narrowly missing sideview mirrors on the cars and seemed to barely keep upright.
We made our way in when our fellow Chicagoans arrived. I played 3 games of pool, which seemed to take forever, but I won 2 of them! Of course, there were a couple of "Management not responsible for ball failure" signs posted around the area. I wandered around and visited with old friends, met some new ones and admired the outfits. MyOrangeHat showed up and cause a stir 'cause she's thrown the Philly Shindig and met a lot of Philly peeps. The Bedlam Bards played a few songs, and of course, we sang along when they sang "A Man They Called Jayne".
Finally, Rhobyne and I were tired so we headed back to the hotel along with a couple of Browncoats. We caught a cab - no way were we walking!
Off to bed...
