Since we never made it to Pisa on Thursday morning, we decided to stop through on our way to Genoa from the villa on Saturday (6-4). We packed up all our stuff and said goodbye to Chris's parents early in the morning and headed to the train station.Nikki sent us with a MASSIVE amount of food and a gigantic bottle of Chianti, so we are definitely set for picnic lunches for the next day or so. Goodbye beautiful villa and wonderful people-- you were really fabulous!
The train to Pisa was pretty easy and took about an hour. We checked our bags in the train station luggage room then walked through Pisa to get to the Campo dei Miracoli  (translated as the "Field of Dreams"-- corny).   The tower was pretty freaking cool. It is definitely chilling at a pretty phenomenal lean.   It was hard for us to capture how extremely off center it was with our cameras because it was also really tall and hard to fit in a picture... oh well, you will get the general idea.
Easily the best part of Pisa was the other tourists. There were people with their hands up staging pictures pretending to hold the tower as far as the eye could see. I took some pictures of them in their poses for everyone to enjoy. Very funny. To be fair, we took a substantial number of pictures as well, but we did not try and hold up the tower...
The Campo dei Miracoli also included a nice cathedral that we wandered around and took pictures of for a little while. Then we booked it back to the train station, retrieved our bags, and hopped on the direct train to Genoa. Two hours is definitely plenty of time for Pisa-- it is literally the tower, the church, and a tiny little town that looked like a less charming version of Pistoia. Definitely worth the stop over though. I'll post about Genoa right after this entry so keep reading if you are interested. Ciao!
