After killing time for most of yesterday waiting for the train to Nagpur, finally left at about 12.30 in the morning. The coolest place to wait was outside where hundreds of others were sleeping on the pavements. Meet some great people, mostly students, and some interesting conversations about politics, employment and studying. Not much different from SA or probably anywhere else in the world. Government is corrupted. Studying is expensive. Jobs are difficult to find even if you have a degree. India has a population of 1.25 billion so this just makes it more difficult.

Found my berth on the train and settled in to sleep. This is definitely not the blue train. There are no compartments, just rows of bunks. The bunks are thinly padded and 3 high. I was on the bottom bunk and all the others were full. It is noisy, dusty and smelly. I stuff my ears with my earplugs (an essential when traveling ) and then pull my buff completely over my head and face. This helps with the light and the dust and smell. Just put me on a train and I am asleep in moments. Woke up in the morning and had a sense that I was being watched. Slowly pulled off my buff to see 5 pair of eyes on the opposite bunk stareing at me. They must have thought who or what is this on the train as my face was completely covered, I was probably snoring my head off
and to make it worse I had large 'morning glory' bulging in my pants.

It was a long hot day on train. The train stopping all the time so definitely not the express. The Indian landscape is generally quite flat and not very inspiring. Passed through mostly small agricultural regions with sugar cane, maize, and potatoes. Lots of little shanty homes and villages.

Arrived in Nagpur and caught my first bicycle rickshaw into town. Why is it that bicycle rickshaw drivers have the skinniest legs in the world?
