Good lord am I full. We just came back from Yvonne's oma's place where we had a barbeque (today is a German holiday). Just the five of us...myself and three generations worth of Franzl women: Yvonne's sister, mom, and grandma. And for four women and one small man, we had a hell of a lot of food...strike that, a hell of a lot of meat! And a grand variety as well...three types of sausages, a couple cuts of pork, some chicken, and mystery meat on a stick. Even the potato salad had small bits of ham in it. And I'm pretty sure I tasted roast duck in the garlic bread. The spread would have made the most redneck Texan (Albertan?) proud! This is just my guess, but I think they don't have many bbq's here, and when they do...

I also had a Bavarian classic for my beverage: weissbier (white beer) and cola...interestingly refreshing! And to top it all off - not that I left any room for dessert, but - some fabulous carrot/chocolate chip cake Babette made, and which taunted and tortured me as it sat in my lap on the drive over. Can't wait for the leftovers...
