My cousin Jeff came from Sacramento on Tuesday, Nov 25, to say hello and visit. See photo above. We noshed, gabbed, and then Bob Villaed away the remaining hours of the night doing minor renovations to my uncle's place. For the record, I played no role in the renovations but for accompanying Jeff and Mike to Home Depot.
On Nov 26, I met Mark and Bill in SF for dinner at Pomelo. Bill is a good friend and work associate of Mark. Bill and his wife, some time back, had spent time in Thailand and India so Mark set up a meeting for shared grub and advice. Bill only had positive things to say about both countries. I thanksgivinged this year in Sebastopol with Mark, his family, and David, their close family friend. We all participated in preparing a feast that I will not soon forget. The turkey pictured above, served with cranberry relish, stuffing, green beans, homemade cole slaw and mash potatoes with gravy was scrumptious.
Mark, his twelve year old niece, Brenna, and I prepared the coleslaw and pies. Well, I should be more specific about to whom credit is due. Mark made homemade coleslaw. The same took hours to prepare and was well worth the wait. Brenna and I prepared an apple pie and a pumpkin pie. Brenna was in control. I took orders and assisted peripherally, i.e., cutting the apples, washing dishes, etc. The pies came out just right - light and delicious! After dinner we retired to the living for a bit of crossword puzzling followed by a viewing of the original Pink Panther with Peter Sellers. The day after thanksgiving was a relaxing one. No shopping at all. Saw a film named Memento. The afternoon was spent in Berkeley visiting Bayard and Nancy, very close friends of Mark. Last year they graciously hosted Mark and I prior to our 7 day excursion to Death Valley. Today, nearly 365 days from the Death Valley send off, Mark and I dropped by to say hello and chat prior to my impending South Korea takeoff.
Later we would stop by Telegraph Avenue for dinner. Telegraph is a lot like the Haight-Ashbury. I returned tonight to my uncle's place via BART, Bay Area Rapid Transit, to get all my belongings prepared for my Sunday takeoff at 1:30pm. Thanks to all who made this California leg of my trip so pleasant and memorable. More thumbnails ...
