I've been insanely busy lately, ever since my teaching practicum began last week. I've been observing and teaching an Elementary level English class at the Australian Pacific College in downtown Sydney. There are 18 students in the class from Korea, Thailand, and Japan. There was one guy from Chile as well, but I think he got bumped up to a higher level this week. The students are all really nice to me and they're all around my age... actually there's a guy from Korea who was born on the exact same day as me! Same month, day, AND year! It's kinda freaky actually. My supervising teacher David (surprisingly the majority of teachers at the college are male!) is pretty cool - he's really helpful and gives me great feedback. Yesterday I felt like my lesson was a disaster; everything that could go wrong did. But David reassured me that I handled all the problems very well and that it turned out to be a good lesson. He said that you really see what kind of a teacher someone is when things go wrong and that I was very adaptable, which is one of the most important qualities in a teacher. So that was nice of him to say, because I felt terrible during the lesson. So on top of the practicum, which is taking up so much of my time, I've also been working at the grad shop, going to class, and trying to work on all the assignments I have due. I barely have an unoccupied moment, and most days I end up eating lunch on the bus from teaching to work. My life is not so fun right now, but thankfully I'll soon have some fun people visiting me! And my practicum ends next week, so hopefully I won't be so stressed out then. Ok, gotta run to class now... and then work... and then lesson planning for tomorrow... and then maybe some sleep? It never ends!
