Malaysia Day two.

So we met for breakfast bright and early and I had my first Belgium waffle of the trip which was amazing. We then headed out on the bus to tour the city. First we went to see the tallest flag pole in the world. It was right next to a very exclusive cricket field the English started when they were there. Across from that we went to the city hall type thing. It was a very unique building that really showed the influences of all the culture. At first glance it seemed very European but then one would notice the Indian influence in the arches and different things such as that. Next stop was the old prison. This was where they actually hung people. It was really cool because the outside walls were painted with pictures of landscapes the tour guide pointed out to us that these were done by four of the prisoners and that they did this with sponges and their finger tips because the jail masters would not allow them paint brushes because they could be used as weapons. Next stop was the royal palace. Although we were not allowed in the gates it was pretty neat because we got to take pictures with the guards. They had really funny outfits and some could move and some couldn't. After that quick stop we went to the Malaysian history museum. It wasn't bad. I think the best part for me was that they had an exhibit on shadow puppets which is what our theater class, a couple of people who were on the trip, has been studying. We all took pictures with the puppets and our anxious to share them with our teacher. We then moved on to the world's largest Putur factory. I know this is random but I feel like a lot of the worlds largest our in KL. It was really neat. At on point we saw a lady pouring the liquid metal into a mold and it would harden like instantly so it must have been insanely hot in the pot. Finally our last stop for the afternoon was the Patron Towers. The largest twin towers in the world and the second and third largest buildings in the world. They were quite impressive. We then had a break till four so I and a couple of the girl decided we would just shop around there for a while and then head back to the hotel for a change. At four we. Left to see the fireflies. We first when to this hill that would lead us to our dinner. When we came up to the hill there was a well know as the poisoned well. The water in it contains a poison mixture of Latex and itchy bamboo shoots and in early times traders were lowered in here up to their chin. We then passed by the only lighthouse on Malaysia which is really just a house that was modeled after a real lighthouse. As we walked further up the hill we ran in to the monkeys. This I think was my favorite part of Malaysia. They were everywhere there must have been at least one hundred little guys. There were so used to people. I took pictures with them and feed them. Some monkeys were sitting on the guardrail of the road so I sat down with them. I only got nervous after I saw one woman accidentally get peed on. We then went to execution rock. This was where one of the famous princesses was beheaded for adultery and many others died here. Even though this was done in the 1800s they blood stains were still visible on the rock. Next we went by the sultan's grave. Then it was dinner time. We ate at a seafood restaurant on the river. And I must say I was quite the little adventurer. I ate a lot of this fish that still had the head eyes and scales on it. You had to like open the body and pick out the meat but it was gutted. After dinner it was firefly time. This was quite exciting. We got on this little boat and we had to wear life jackets. It was so dark when we got on I could not see the river or really much of what the boat looked like, we were not really allowed to make much noise because this may have scared the fireflies away. (Just some quick knowledge. The only ones that light up our males and they do this to find there mates. They are actually beetles and the females don't really fly. ) It was so cool though. It really did look like Christmas trees. I was a little nervous they had just put lights in the trees and were scamming us but there was really no way. What I found shocking was there was a point where they just stopped I think it was due to a change in the spices of tree that was along the river bed but it was definitely a neat ordeal. We got back and decided we would head out to the bar as a group for a while because it was our last night here. A couple of people that didn't go on the trip flew there independently and met up with us to come out. Oh I also got some really cool footage of a guy who was practicing drifting in an empty parking lot.
