Day 2

July 6, 2006

Wow what a long day. So Maggie and I woke up at 6 AM after getting in at like 11pm last night. We took a short bus ride to the airport and I took my first Asian flight. We get a new kid in each port and they live in our next port so the can talk to us about it and get to know us. So we picked up the kids from Singapore and they went on the trip with us today and the girl sat next to me and we talked the whole flight. I'm really excited because she said everyone there speaks great English which will be a nice change. So we landed and it was amazing. The mountains were wonderful they were so tall and full of greenery. We went to the toroko gorge and I took tons of pictures but I feel as though none of them really capture it. We made a couple stops and hiked just a short while. We spent hours just driving and even the way they built the road was impressive. The weather change there was quite nice. There was a nice breeze because the wind channeled through the gorge. We then got to the hotel there and ate lunch. It was so much food. I didn't know what to do with myself it was like the lazy Suzan and they brought out so many dishes. I have been trying so much that I would never eat at home. We then left and took a train ride back. I really wish we flew both ways because the train was like 3 hours and the plane was 35 minutes. But when we arrived back we decided not to go straight back to the boat but spend some time in the bigger city. We got a group of kids from the boat and went off. It was so funny though cuz we got off the stop before everyone else on our tour did and we forgot to bring our tickets off and as the train was moving of our tour guide yells out the door you forgot your tickets and throws them on the platform. It was hilarious and something you kind of had to see. So we left and went to the macaroni Grill for dinner. We needed a change from the Asian cuisine. After we decided if we were going to take a taxi back we may as well stock up so we headed for the Costco. We got so much but now we think we are set for the rest of the trip. The place was huge though it was like 2 times the size of ours. However they had a lot of weird food. They had like full squid and like cucumber slugs. It was just one of those days where you don't do too much but the sights and the company makes the day. Well now we are in our room and after a long and much needed shower we are writing a couple of blogs and going to bed. Thank you so much for the mail. It is so exciting to get. I love you all. I miss you. PS I also finished my 3rd book on the train so be proud.
