Hilton Garden Inn | Terminal 1 & 2 .... we've seen it all!
What I did
Mosebach Bornheim, Gate D26, Lufthansa Business Lounge
What had happend before:
Dropped off by Jorgens parents we checked in at the hotel and left again for our dinner with the new (yet to be appoited) co sponsors at Mosebach in Frankfurt Bornheim. Some 'ebblwoi', 'green sauce with Schnitzel & Rosti' later we were quite stuffed (living in Holland you forget the amount of food served in Germany :) and smiling all over from the sour alkoholized apple wine. However I am sure that with our lughter we amuzed the whole restaurant and even got tips for our first destination, Buenos Aires. Too bad even those nights end and we had to say goodbye :-/ and head get back to our hotel. After 5 hours of sleep (yes, we treated ourselves to a luxurous stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport) we headed for the Iberia check in of our fist flight from Frankfurt to Madrid
Just in time, at 06.55 the gate opened and we where on board on time. At 07.40 the plane was taxing to the runway for airborn, but just with the last security checks, they noticed an irregularity. So breaking of their taxing, we were directed to a maintenance area. To make a long story short, we stood there untill 0940 before they decided that it would take at least 3 hour more to ensure safety. At this point, the crew decided to leave the plane and we were back at the terminal ... in stead of being in Madrid already.
At 12.30, after getting our vouchers for lunch, Maria went back to the check inn counter to ask for a receipt of delay for insurance and claim purposes. Right then, the lady at the counter was informed that our fight was cancelled. So what she did was great, she booked us a direct flight with lufthansa on the same night (22.15) to Buenos Aires. PERFECT!! The ony thing we had to do now, was getting back our luggage and checking in at the flight with lufthansa. While Maria arranged the check-in, Jorgen waited with two other persons (and of course the other 180 angry people) to collect the luggage.
Just at the moment we received our luggage, Maria also arranged the check-in (apparently just in time, because this flight was overbooked as we heard later on). After dropping our luggage for te second time that day, we took our voucher for lunch and had some. After collecting another set of vouchers for dinner, we were completely ready for our flight that night.
