. We check in and go up to our room, omg we have a big spa bath in the bedroom (I am in that before we leave here) as well as huge shower room and toilet, the bed is massive and we are over looking the swimming pool and roll a coaster that circles around the hotel. We meet up with Michael and Rebecca and hit the tables, Deal or No Deal and the Wheel of Fortune occupy us for some time, it is in this period that Terry realises his mistake in buying a round of drinks before we start gambling, there are waitresses circling the floor and plying you with whatever drinks you want and they are all free, you just have to tip them, around a dollar is expected. After a while of this we decide to explore the strip. Well what can I say each hotel appears to be more fantastic than the next, I cannot adequately describe the atmosphere the themes, even the smells as you enter them, the place is spotless and there is perfume being pumped out of the entrances to the hotels/casinos. We stop to watch the island at Mirage erupt and for even longer at the dancing fountains outside Bellagios. Then it is back to New York New York with aching feet but happy eyes. We now hit the tables and machines in earnest, it is a fantastic but really unreal experience, the first time the waitress comes up to us Terry tips her $5, that is it she hovers around nearby all night and virtually each time we finish a drink she is there to get us more. A tactic learned. Eventually in the small hours, there are no clocks or windows here so no track of time, we decide it is time to call it a night and repair to our room and a relax in the spa bath watching TV, we don't even bother taking a drink up, believe it or not we have had our fill, just a slice of pizza and some water, bliss
. Next morning we are up and after a bit more exploring and tacky gift shopping later it is back to our hotel and its flashing lights and a bit more gambling, this time we do more on the tables, such fun, we are never going to win big, only betting a dollar at a time as we are but sooo much fun. We have all decided after visiting all the main ones the New York New York is the best. We go to one of the many restaurants within the hotel and have a lovely dinner together for such a reasonable price, service is really quick, they do not want you away from the tables for very long. A couple of more punts and it is off to the airport for Terry and I, we repeat our outward journey and arrive back at the Radisson some time after 1 in the morning, exhausted, happy and amazed at what we have seen an unreal world in the middle of a desert that is on the go at a million miles an hour 24 hours a day. Unbelievable. Tomorrow is our last full day before going home, got to make the most of it.
Today Terry and I set off for Las Vegas to meet up with Michael and Rebecca who got there yesterday. We are going to celebrate Michaels birthday there. We do a bit of research and find that we can get to the airport by a combination of taxi train and shuttle bus, we are flying from Oakland airport. Well we set of and how easy it was, taxi to the BART station, BART train to Oakland and bus shuttle to the airport, piece of cake and about the third of the cost of a taxi direct and probably not much longer. We are only carrying a small rucksack, we are only there for one night after all, so it is a breeze onto the plane, an American budget airline. It is only an hour and twenty minute to Las Vegas but this does remind us why we will not be travelling economy ever again. We arrive in Las Vegas which has appeared out the desert from nothing and a quick taxi ride to our hotel, the New York New York, really so good it deserves to be named twice, it is fantastic, unbelievable, the first thing we notice is rows and rows of gaming machines tables and people smoking indoors, this place is like no other we have been to
