As usual Terry organised for us to be far to early so a few trips around duty free was involved, ending in rock hard bacon rolls and a very flat croissant from an eatery (you had to be there to see the funny side). Still no alcohol consumed.
Now to the plane, after experiencing premium economy seating, we are never going to fly anything less again, we were spoilt with comfortable seating our own personal tv monitor with numerous films, games (which I let terry beat me at, just to keep him amused of course) and free drinks from the bar, so a glass of champagne was first followed our first (yes you heard it right) our first gin and tonic with ice (which dave informed us with all that ice would go right through us)
Arrived on schedule to New York short wait then through customs and immigration where a very friendly cop took our photos and fingerprints , and ask if we really needed the four bottles of whisky as he could find a use for a couple of them.
Then the shuttle bus to our hotel the Waldorf Astoria, friendly driver but god was he weird!! The twitch had us all worried. It finally hit us that we had arrived in the big apple on seeing the sky line and street names. After a quick check in at the hotel and bags stowed in our rooms, (see photo) we ventured out to start our exploration, few block down to Snuf Bar (much better that is sounds) this was the beginning of terrys love affair with Samuel Adams (it's a beer of course). Dinner that night was hamburgers and fries at Johnny Rocket no alcohol just iced water (which dave said that it would go right through you). So back to the hotel via a licquor store (see photo of dave with our shameful secret).
