The next day we took a walk down to Denny's and then further down the strip. We stopped off at the Fashion Show Mall as I was melting in the heat. It was very close, it wasn't muggy or a dry heat but very hard to walk in
. After some retail therapy in Macys we were ready to go again. We walked through Treasure Island which was cool but then we went to the Venetian and wow, it was so impressive inside. On the 2nd floor they have actually created a canal that you can have gondola rides on! It is so nicely done and really did remind us of Venice. They have the ceiling painted with blues skies with a few clouds floating there. We then caught the 'Deuce' bus back to the Stratosphere. After relaxing for a while we headed down the strip again to the Mandalay Bay. Because of road works and traffic it took ages to get to the other end. We went to the House of Blues for dinner and listened to live music. The Mandalay Bay was very nice but was a big hotel. It had it's own beach but it didn't feel as special as the Venetian. We walked on over to the Luxor Casino but again felt they could have done a lot more with the space inside. Excaliber looked a bit tacky so we didn't venture in. We decided we would try to get to New York New York, Paris and Ceasars Palace the following day so instead we walked on to the Bellagio which is very grand. The water feature to music was beautiful but the Venetian still impressed me more with the interior. It was now late and we headed back to the hotel.
Since we got home at about 3am we slept in a bit the next day. After sorting ourselves out with breakfast we printed off our David Copperfield tickets for that night and decided to do a bit more shopping at the Stratosphere
. Then we headed back up to the top and took some day photos of the strip and then took a walk to the swimming pool. After that it was time to get ready and head for dinner at Lucky's (Crab and Steak for $10) and then on down to Caesar's Palace which was really well done inside, as was Paris which lead us into Ballys. From there we walked down to the MGM Grand for our show. We had a bit of time to kill so played some slots. No big winnings there! We were upgraded to better seats, the second row from the front in our own booth. Awesome! We had a great time and Adrian got brought on stage for the final act! It was a great show and reminded me of my childhood watching the TV shows he did. We got out and spent a bit more time there before heading for the bus which took ages! Finally back at the hotel we played a few final slot games and got to bed again about 3am!
Las Vegas is such a fun city. We had a great time and didn't spent too much money considering what you could do. We would head back again without thinking about it.
An early start on the road as we had to return our rental car by 10:15 in Vegas. With the time difference it wasn't too bad though and Las Vegas wasn't far from Hurricane. We arrived in plenty of time and checked in to the hotel and then dropped off the car at the airport. We arrived back at the hotel via a shuttle which showed us a lot of the city from the other drop offs (we were last) and killed a bit of time until we could check in. As we were staying at the Stratosphere we could go to the top any time we wanted (it normally costs $15). The first night we headed up to the top to get a view of Las Vegas by night. It was quite pretty with all the lights. We went on the open top level where the rides are but decided not to try any out. The wind was blowing and I was in a dress so it was a very short time out there.
