Meeting Mama Hahn, NOT

Nha Trang is town on the coast. There was a beach here. One problem though. It was December and the storms were in. The main reason people come here, they do boat tours from here and the majority of backpackers do the Mama Hahn boat tour. For US$7.00, they take you on a tour of the surrounding areas in a boat. They give you lunch but you have to buy your own drinks, but the real fun is that Mama Hahn supplies and endless amount of joints. This was the real reason why I was here, but as there were storms, the boats were not running. We had a look at the beach, but it was filthy from all the crap that the sea was dragging up onto it. We walked into the Nha Trang sailing club as it was happy hour, ran into Tadek who told us that he had swam once but was hit on the head with a coconut and he was waiting around for the boat tours. As we were bored, we hired a couple of bikes and had a look around. Down the end where the boats set off, there was a shop selling sea horses, dried out of course. They are meant to be an aphrodisiac. Who knows, we didn't try any? We rode back along the beach and out the otherside of town until we came to the Cham towers. These were good. We watched a couple of kids take a sandal or two and then demand money for them. It was their scam, so we kept hold of ours. Even worse, was down below where we had parked our bikes. All these old people came walking at us shouting, "Give us money". It was like a scene from, Return of the dead !!!!! We rode away and headed for the big Buddha. Locking the bikes up, we were once again in Vietnamese style trouble. The Buddha sits above an orphanage, so we were instantly mobbed by kids looking for handouts. We left them and climbed the stairs above. Near the top, were more old people who were hanging out with people with disabilities. They also demanded money. The view from here was excellent. Once back at the hotel, they assured us that the tour was going to take the next day. We heard this for three days, and after five days of looking mainly at the rain, we left. Jumping on a bus, we went over the mountain and headed towards Hoi An. Being on a Sinh Café bus, this means that you stop off at their restaurants, so being a roadside restaurant, the views are ok, but the food is crap, so keep away, but as this is Vietnam, the bread is French and great so we just drink their green tea. Other than that, all is fine
