Janelle was looking forward to Berlin, as she wanted to speak German. We went to the counter at the campground, she tried to speak German, they answered in English and proceeded to have the rest of the conversation in English, which is typical of a German person anyway. She was amazed, but she had never been there before so it was no skin off my nose. As Melanie had been to Berlin before, she decided not to come in. We managed to get a travel card ticket between the 4 of us and off we went. We went straight to the Zoo station and picked up a walking tour. Really interesting tour. Didn't realise that Berlin had 2 of everything. 2 zoo's, airports, and many other things. We saw the burning of the books, once you start burning books, next comes people, and the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate and the tour ended at Checkpoint Charlie. Cool museum, one of my favourites. As usual, the food, mainly the pork was great and we stuffed ourselves on cakes and coffee. We even had time to eat a Berliner. Ich bin ein Berliner. Looking at the city, here was one place that I rate highly, and I need to come back and see it as it will be the capital again. We had ridden through Bonn 2 years previously and it was not the most exciting place, but Berlin was happening. It was great and the reason we needed to come back was that this city was still being built
