Stuck living in the centre of London, can have its advantages. We live right near Hyde Park Corner, so every available moment, we are out riding our bikes. Traffic can be dangerous, but you do tend to move faster than the cars/buses and the taxis. Our local is a bar called SouthSide. Obviously has the Southern feel. Coopers for £1.50, cocktails for £2.00 or spirit and mixer for £1.50 as well. Drink, get drunk, ride bike, blood pumps more alcohol, get more drunk !!!!! We have also joined English Heritage. This organisation, looks after loads of old castles, abbeys and things that are generally falling down !!!!! When in England, there is always StoneHenge. It still amazes me that there is a road running directly alongside of it. They give you a handheld phone type thing which you listen to as you are going along. Back when Lucy was young, she used to run all over it. Things have changed though, now it is roped off and you are not allowed near it for fear of damaging it. Better still is Avebury Circles. Much larger and more stones and you are allowed to walk up to them and touch them, plus they are free. Also, following the avenue up, this takes you to West Kennett Long Barrow. An old burial ground from a couple of thousand years ago. As well as these items, there are numerous white horses etched into the hillsides, and if you look hard enough, just off of the A303 is a giant Kiwi which was etched in 1918 by a New Zealand regiment. We have also done the castles on the coast, Walmer, Deal and Dover. We even saw the toilet that Churchill used to sit and do his business on during WW2 !!!!!
