Across on the ferry, straight through Germany but we made a mistake. There was snow on the road and as we passed through Fussen, we should have gone to Neuschwanstein. Home of the castle of mad King Ludwig. To see it in the snow is meant to be the only way to see it. We drove on until we reached Innsbruck. We tried the campground, but it was closed. We booked into the local hostel in town and went to relive old memories from a month ago, but this time it was different. There was snow. The ski jump was covered and so was the outdoor ice rink. No time for fun as we were on our way to Italy

First impressions of a country, help you sometimes. Now this was November and we were driving along and on the side of the road at a bus stop were a couple of girls, dressed in short skirts waiting for the bus. We drove on until we found a hostel in Rovereto. We stayed overnight here as we did not have enough time to drive onto Cortina. We awoke early and drove back towards the Cortina turning. Along the way, the same two girls, on the side of the road, wearing skimpier clothes. It hit home, they were prostitutes!!!!! We found the turning for Cortina and headed up. Now in Australia, as soon as it snows the slightest, the police come out and force everyone to wear chains. This road we were driving on was covered in snow and not a policeman or warning sign in sight. We drove up, and up and up, until we reached the glorious height of 3200 metres, not once but three times!!!! And spin we did, once around a hairpin and then nearly under the back of a semi, and finally, we arrived. The campground was just off of the main road, so we set our tent and hit the ice rink as Lucy wanted to skate where the 64 Olympics had taken place. It was getting cold, so we made our way back to the campground and attempted to cook dinner but the olive oil was frozen already!!! This was scary. We put the temperature gauge on the ground and it read minus fourteen, whilst the air temperature was minus seven. Luckily we had good camping gear because this was brass monkey material. When we awoke in the morning with everything frozen, including Lucy's contact lenses in their solution!!!!! We made the joint decision to leave and head over to Verona. Home of Romeo and Juliet. We drove to the youth hostel and for 8000 Lira per person, you could pitch you tent and breakfast was included. Done deal. We walked around, saw the balcony, below is a statue of Juliet, and her right breast is polished clean. Rumour is that if you grab a feel, you will get a new partner. I was not allowed to touch. Bummer!!!!! and toured L'Arena, a coliseum that is still in use. We walked around more and just hung out in Verona. Money was running low, so we decided to head back to London and look for a job. We left Italy and drove through Austria. Upon arriving at the start of S.T Christopher's tunnel, it was sleeting. Once we arrived at the other side, it was a full blown blizzard and this did not deter the Germans from driving any slower. As we were now driving in Germany, there were many cars on the side of the road that were crashed, these guys were mad. I was doing 50 Kilometres per hour and it was still to fast. Many a time a semi went past and sprayed us with snow and we were blind, and then our windscreen wipers cleared it again. As well, Mr Plough was hard at work. As soon as he cleared the lane, it was covered again in snow. After much driving, we pulled over and cooked dinner, and slept in the car. We awoke to a beautiful morning with the snow thawing, and it was time to make a move, so we headed off to old London town
