We awoke the next morning, packed our belongings back into our panniers, went back to Centraal Station, and met Chris in the cent re of the star that is on the floor. He took us back to his place in Heemskerk and took us on a tour of the surrounding areas. Haarlem, Bloomendahl, to the place where the boy who put his finger in the dyke and then back into Amsterdam so he could take us on a tour of the red light district by night. This was the Amsterdam that I was expecting to see. We made our way back to his place and the next day, we moved into the local Youth Hostel, which was a castle. We placed our belongings there, walked up to the station and made our way back into the city as we had a date with coffee shops and the Heineken brewery. This was the other Dutch tourist life that we had heard all about. First, the Mellow Yellow cafe where I smoked a joint and became slightly stoned, and then it was onto the Heineken brewery. Now the tour cost two Guilders, which goes to charity and you are guided in groups of 20 around the old brewery. Which takes around 45 minutes, and the tour ends in a big beer hall, and this is where the fun starts. They sit you down at a table that seats ten, put some cheese and biscuits on the table and start feeding you beer for up to 45 minutes, and if it is your birthday, they put you up on stage and you have to down a stein in one, and then they give you the stein to keep, which says Happy Birthday. This I logged in my mind, as something I had to do, in the future. No trip to Amsterdam, is complete without a canal tour. This was done and dusted. Another day, in Heemskerk, and it was time to move on. The next morning, we packed our panniers and headed away from Amsterdam, in the direction of Arnham. Now, you would think that getting there would be no problems, but we never seemed to be more than twenty kilometres away from Amsterdam!!!!! Towards the end of the day, we found a hostel in Bunnik and settled down for the night. We ate our dinner and theI settled down for my desert. Cake. Well actually space cake, and mate, I was spaced!!!!! The next morning, we jumped onto our bikes (minus my brain!!!!!)and headed towards the border of Germany
