583Trip End Ongoing
Leaving the airport in our hired car, we had no map, no GPS and no idea, so we followed a road until it became a dead end and then did a u-turn and went back the way we came !!!
Back on track, once we had cleared the outskirts of Kuta, the traffic died, the mountainous roads came into view, and your typical Balinese postcard views arrived. It took over 4 hours to do something like 90 ks, but this is Bali, and we were no rush.
Once in Tulamben, we were measured up for our wetsuits and BCDs, changed and then into the water for a night dive.
It was slightly hard to make out the ship, but there was some good fish life out there including bump headed parrot fish, a huge moray eel and some large potato groupers. We did manage to penetrate the wreck, but we had no idea what was going on !!!
The next morning, we hit the water at 06:30 as this is the best time to dive. The fish are waking up and there is never anyone down there. We walked in and came across a school of bump headed parrot fish. They were so tame, we could almost touch them !!! Next up, were two baby frog fish, and then I looked up, and all I could think was, WOW, now breathe !!! The rear was right in front of me, it was impressive, so to calm me down, the divemaster showed me the smallest pygmy seahorse I have ever seen !!!!
In and out we swam through the wreck, it was pretty impressive, I must say. We did a complete tour of the ship, and when we came up, we couldn't stop talking about it !!!
For our next dive, we were told that there was a wall we could dive, so we that. There were more eels, frog and stone fish. It was nice, no current and the visibility was good. We spent 50 minutes down looking at the sea life before we finished.
And with that, our Liberty experience was over. It made us realise that we will come back as the Liberty was everything that we had expected and more.
