From one ex commie state to another. Life moves in funny ways. Who would believe that I was in Liths one day, and the next in Kolkata !!! And before you say anything telling me I am wrong, check the history books, Kolkata is the longest running democratically elected communist state in the world !!! And now back to the story.

Kolkata

Yes we are both here, back in India for the fourth time. Actually, it was good to be back, this time without the after effects of Hep E. Last time, I never managed to see the gardens around the Victoria memorial, they were pretty good. Across the road is St Paul's, so we ticked it off of the list again. We didn't bother with the observatory after the last debacle so we kept on walking !!!

The next day, we went back to Kalighat, where they sacrafice goats. They had changed the set up, so it was harder to watch. There was a bit of blood around from the ones that had been done, and then a local told us that there were nomore being done today, so we hung around, watching the locals praying against the stocks. Not long after, a man turned up with a goat, it was checked out, had a blessing, then it was placed in the stocks, and within three seconds, his head was off. Within five, he was stripped, and chopped up !!! After that, we left and went over to  Dalhousie Square, a place we had not been to. All around were old British Raj buildings, with one being a small domed building which was the post office. Inside was a stamp exhibition, so we had a little look, and being the only Westies in there, I was interviewed for two different tv channels !!! I spun a load of bullshit, and made the people happy, except the part when I told them that Australia would kick India in the cricket !!!

There was one place I really wanted to visit, and being a cricket fan, I had to go. Eden Gardens is huge in the cricket world, and I found a gate open. There was also a game playing, so I sat back and enjoyed it. Actually, the stadium is quite shit, but it still is special in its own way !!! Once back on the streets, we walked through K's of parks, even past the East Bengal Club, which is a bit strange as we are in West Bengal and East Bengal is commonly known as Bangladesh !!! Ahhhh, those good ole British Raj days !!!

And then it was over, two days and we had another flight to catch.

And Finally

India, I hated it last time, couldn't wait to get back, I hate the horns, I love the chai, it's in my system, and you all know, I will be back.
