The sleeper bus was a right shitter. Along the way we had two blowouts. Needless to say, we were late by 7 hours.

Finding accommodation was hard. Everywhere was a fucking ripoff. We took one and went for a walk to the former hippie markets at Ajuna. As we walked around it appeared that everyone was selling the same shit and we had seen it cheaper elsewhere !!! We didnt need to see much more, so we left. As we walked back there were numerous crosses and churches. The Portuguese had brought Christianity to the area and it had left its mark in a big way.

The next morning we checked out of our hotel as we had found somewhere cheaper and better. We had a walk along the beach and realised it was full of old Europeans wearing G-Strings. On that note we left and jumped on a bus and went for a ride. And still more churches. No mosques and few hindu temples. We definitely were in the bible belt of India area. Once back, I decided it was time to test the water. Amazingly, it was quite warm but also very salty. I felt like I was covered in brine !!!

In the morning, I convinced Lucy to come for a swim. The G-String teams were already out in force, but we did not join them. It was great way to start the day. We took some more walks looking at more churches before the water called up back in again. Once out, we watched the local fishermen bring thier boats in and unload thier catch. The fish were really small. And then we had a power outage which lasted all through the night, and that was that.

We packed our bags and jumped on a couple of buses. The terrain around was beautiful. There were also some huge churches. Once our bags were dumped, we walked around Vasco Da Gama and watched a Catholic wedding. Then the locals gave us food and drinks !!! And that was the end of our first stay in Goa,

Now if going to a beach and sitting on a beach-chair surrounded by overweight, G-String wearing, skin like leather Europeans, Goa is the place for you, but we both thought that the beach area was shit and could not wait to leave. It was also the most expensive place in India that we have been to so far. Sadly, we have to come back to the area, but next time, we will not be going to the beach !!!
