The alarm clock went off, and we checked out of the shithole that was Varanasi. At 05:30, there is not much happening, so we grabbed a couple of cycle rickshaws and had a race to the bus station. Once there, we gave the winner his money and we jumped on a piece of shit that passed for a bus and we were off to the border. Sonauli.
The bus ride was far from comfortable. It was long. Indian people all want to sit as close to the front of the bus. If they can not, they stand. They really are fucked up !!!
After ten hours, we arrived. We jumped out of the bus and cycle rickshaws were quoting us ridiculous prices for the trip to the border gate. We told them to fuck off. We walked and five minutes later, we were handing over our passports to be stamped out. Much easier than entering from Pakistan, we crossed the line and entered Nepal. Handed over $30 US each, and we were now, legally in Nepal. We found a room, that wasn't fit for a dog, and this was our digs for the night. Luckily for us, the food was good, so, it kind of made up for it.
At 04:30, we were on a local bus, as our destination was Pokhara, and being part Jewish, there was no fucking way I was going to pay the prices these people wanted for a trip on a tourist bus !!! However, after another 10 hours, I was kind of thinking, maybe, next time we should !!!!! But we would wait and see.
Once the bus arrived in Pokhara, we rang for a hotel, and a man turned up with a little motorbike. We laughed as our packs are big, and there was no way we would fit. So, he grabbed us a taxi, and we drove down to Lakeside, actually, West Lakeside. A 15 minute walk into town. It was ok. We had satellite TV, so I could watch the cricket, and Lucy the movies. We went into town. There was a main road running up and down. Every third shop was selling trekking equipment. The other two thirds was made up of restaurants and Tibetan hand made goods !!! Exciting !!! We found a couple of guides and pumped them for information about the Annapurna Circuit, as this was the sole reason we were here. We walked around some more, and then the sun went down. All of a sudden, the mood changed. As I was walking, a kid came up to me and offered me hash. I declined. He offered me a girl instead !!! I was shocked. I told him to fuck off. This was a mistake. Actually, I should have asked him how much to fuck his ass, as he really did need the shit beaten out of him !!! I went and relayed what had happened to Lucy. She was appalled as I was. We really did not want to be here.
The following morning, we went and got our permits so that we could trek the Annapurnas. Normally, there is a real nice view of the Annapurnas, but everyday whilst we are here, there is fog everywhere. And normally, I am the one who takes loads of photos of my food !!! But because I really do not like this place, I have not taken one, hence the lack of them. But tomorrow, we are off to start our trek, so I thought I would let you all know, what I will be carrying
1 x Fleece jacket
1 x Microfleece top
2 x T-Shirts
4 x Underwear
1 x Thermal bottoms

Shit holes of India
So they are everywhere. I thought that i was the only person staying in places that are more like dog kennels or prison cells that paid for accommodation. Last night in Sikkim I stayed somewhere that was so rank I thought I was going to get seriously ill (they even made me pay for the right to stay there - RUDE).
Good luck trekkin, I can't even book on a trek in Sikkim as I have noone to trek with. I hate this fucked up country and wish I had gone trekkin back home instead!
