I had heard that you could buy beer in Pakistan, under the counter that is, and after the way the day had gone so far, I was looking forward to a nice cold one, but first there was the simple matter of crossing the border.
We walked in and handed over the passports. The officials looked at my passport, said, British, but born in Sydney. I told them that really I was an Aussie. Their reply was we love the Shane Warne, we love the Ricky Ponting. They are the best cricket team. I tried to explain that England had just beaten us, but that did not matter. I was made to shake hands with everyone and I had new best friends !!! We walked out and into customs. Word had got around that an Aussie was in town. They knew all the players names. We mentioned Inzaman, Yousef, Shohab, Afridi. They loved us. Straight through customs. Into the money changing area. I did not need beer, I had cricket lovers everywhere. This was great. One changer sidled on up to me and stated that us Pakistani's are just like you Aussies. I asked how and he said that we love the cricket and we love to fuck our wives !!!!!
We bought some bus tickets, cut price because we were the new stars of the area, and the whole bus was talking cricket. I was in heaven. We found our seats and sat. The talk was cricket. Old and new players alike. They would not stop. We had a 14 hour night bus trip to contend with. Would they shut up, or would they continue to talk stats with me. Only time would tell !!!

How safe is the Pak-Iran border crossing?
Hi Davros,
I wanted to read travellers tales from the Pakistan-Iran crossing which I am considering doing soon.
Hope you don't mind strangers peeking at your travelpod but they seem to share these things publically which is nice but a bit freaky.
Anyhow, I wanted to ask you whether the border crossing felt safe or not? Obviously you made it through alive but I've just been reading about kidnapping in Pakistan and its freaking me out.
I've been to Pakistan many times before but I'm just wondering if this time some parts are too dodgy to contemplate...
what do you think?
Thanks
happy travels, xmas, new year, everything
