Thankfully for us, there was a bus leaving early in the morning, so we caught a cab to the bus station, and by 08:00, we were on our way to Kermanshah. The reason for coming here was that this year on BBC2, there was a show called 80 Treasures Around The World. Here, was a rock carving, that was over 2000 years old, which you climbed up some old wooden scaffolding, so you could get a better look. Other than that, there was also meant to be some more rock carvings that sound interesting.
As we came towards Bisotun, the bus took a definite lean to the left. All the Iranians were trying to get a good look at the ruins. All I could see were cliffs as we were a fair way away from where they would be. The bus drove another 30 K's, and then it arrived at the bus terminal. As usual, a guy set his eyes on us through the windows. To them, looking for Westerners, is like looking at the whores in the windows in Amsterdam, except we have to pay them. We negotiated a price, and he took us into town to find our Hilton Hotel for the night. Luxury, we had our own shower and toilet. After using these beautiful facilities, we went and had a look around the town. There was not much to see, and as it was the middle of the day, we had it all to ourselves. We had a quick look at the Jameh Mosque and then moved on to the Takieh Mo'aven Ol-Molk. Another kind of shrine. Lovely tiles all over it with the highlight being a copy of Ali's footprint. Looked a little small to be Muhammad Ali's, so we had no fucking ideas whose foot it was. Still, as we were the only ones there, it was quite nice. However, when we went out, it was a different story. Being the only Infidels in town, word must have gotten out, as everyone was now on the street. Extremists everywhere !!!!! They were so excited, saying hello and asking where we came from, but after 20 minutes, we ran to our hotel and hid.
Up early, as we wanted to beat the sun, well after we changed money. So by 10:00, we had our bitch and he, as usual had ripped us off. We were on our way to Bisotun. As we pulled in, he did not want to accept my money. He wanted double to take us back. Fuck that, he had ripped us off enough. I wanted someone else to rip us off. So we told him to piss off, and off we walked. We passed the little Hercules statue and moved on. Saw the old ancient script next, so only the rock carvings remained. We rounded the corner, camera in hand. I snapped a few. Looked for the scaffold, I was ready to climb, but the fucking thing was not there. I broke down and cried, well not for the first time. Lucy was embarrassed, so she hid. We went up to as close as we could. They were building a new scaffold for the Infidels and Extremists to climb, but it was not ready. Fuck it, fuck it, fuck it. We started speaking to an Extremist and he said he would drive us to Taq-E Bostan. The local rock carvings. Cool. As we were getting into his car, our old taxi driver scum was waiting fir us. We waved him goodbye, and off we drove in an air-conditioned car. Even better. He dropped us off at the gates and in we went. There are three rock carvings here. Pretty impressive with one looking like Luke Skywalker with his light sabre. Another shows some guy defeating an enemy, whilst the last one has a Zoroastrian god, Mazda, blessing some guy.May be a Japanese guy. We were not sure. We had lunch in this traditional place where you sit down, and a middle aged beggar with crutches came round asking for money. We ignored him, and once he had finished with our restaurant, he put the crutches under his arm, and ran up the stairs. Scumbag !!! We talked to a few girls who were studying English, as everyone seems to do here, and then we decided to leave. Around the corner, we found a bus with our good friend se gre ga tion. Jesus, he is popular in this country !!!
That was basically it. We had seen enough. We could not get to where we wanted to go to next, so we have decided to go to Tehran
