Skopje - Not much I can really say. It is up there with Milan as being a right shithole. I only went there as it was on the way to Lake Ohrid. But there is only a Turkish bridge, an old feudal tower, a monument to Mother Theresa, an old fort and a market, which was the most exciting thing there

Shithole I say, so don't bother to go

skopje is the best!
How can you criticise something you havn't experiensed? skopje is a great city! It's not my problem you can't enjoy in what you see. Yes i agree it's not the cleanest nor the wealthiest city in the world. But in Skopje the people are friendly and very positive dispite the bad economic sityation. Have you visited any museum or a concert to see how are we, the people of skopje enjoying our selves.

How come every big time music star that had a comcert in Skopje said that they havn't experienced anything like this? For a fact, which you might like to note, Skopje in essence has a very ballistic and eccentric night life - which by the sounds of things YOU did not get to experience. The people here create the atmosphere regardless of the 'facade' or the state of the city and its streets.
Skopje is not what it was i admit that, but we do try. we have a long way to go. But you have to give us credit for being positive and we know how to enjoy life.

Ohrid is far better
It is called a personal opinion, and personally, Macedonia has far nicer places. This is something we grow up with where I come from. For a city where the cheapest place is a youth hostel, and that was way overpriced, I would never reccomend your city. In fact, I would tell people how good Ohrid is, and if you have to catch a bus into Skopje, get on the next bus out of there

I recently visited Skopje and could not believe what a wonderful place I was in, stayed for 3 days, Matka lake and monastries were absolutely amazing, must go again one day, one of my favourite cities food, fun, everything. How can anyone criticise this unless they had their eyes closed???????/
