Skopje - Not much I can really say. It is up there with Milan as being a right shithole. I only went there as it was on the way to Lake Ohrid. But there is only a Turkish bridge, an old feudal tower, a monument to Mother Theresa, an old fort and a market, which was the most exciting thing there

Shithole I say, so don't bother to go

Ohrid is far better
It is called a personal opinion, and personally, Macedonia has far nicer places. This is something we grow up with where I come from. For a city where the cheapest place is a youth hostel, and that was way overpriced, I would never reccomend your city. In fact, I would tell people how good Ohrid is, and if you have to catch a bus into Skopje, get on the next bus out of there

Re: skopje is the best!
I recently visited Skopje and could not believe what a wonderful place I was in, stayed for 3 days, Matka lake and monastries were absolutely amazing, must go again one day, one of my favourite cities food, fun, everything. How can anyone criticise this unless they had their eyes closed???????/

I was sad, reading what you have written. I have been in Skopje 10 times for more than 7 mounths during 2 years of time. I simply love this city!!! I have been in almost every continent in this world. And in lot of big cities and capitals. But never experienced a true, sincere and exiting city like Skopje. I have been here in all the different times of year. But the most loving time was at easter time. Everything blossoms, people are getting outside again. Coffehouses move their furnitures out in the street. And the springtime wakes people up. I have been living with "snobbs" in the embassy, visiting poor people in fallen houses in Shutka. Lived with my in laws in albanian part of the city. And i have seen and learn everything about life, simply by getting to know people here. Offcourse there have been bad things, like seeing realy poor people, children living under the bridge, murders, corruption and cultural differences. But still I miss the smell, people, food, shopping and my "what to do things", everytime i leave.

So bad for you, I dont think you truly experienced Skopje. I hope one day you go back and take your time to enjoy the city. It is something too see and to do for everyone in this city. Either you like museum, art, nature, clubbing, coffee, shopping. I can go on and on really...

Thank you Skopje, Blagodaram Skopje, Falim Inderit Shkupi <3
Because of visiting and staying in this wonderful place, I have finally reach the goals for the person I want to be in life. Al hamdulillah.
I dont judge people because of the apperance, neither by their check accounts. Just from the hosbility, friendlyness and their hearts. And now family and graditude to life is finally the topics I live for.

You either had a horrible tour guide or you were clueless when you got there.
I admit, it's a little boring to live in it, but there are bunch of things to see and to keep you busy for at least 3-4 days. As for the prices, I'm pretty sure Ohrid is twice more expensive.
