Our day began at 4:15am clouded in the faint smell of distant lands. Apparently our cab driver had worked up quite a sweat with a previous customer….omen of things to come?
Our first 17 hours have gone without a hitch…although Barbara, God love her, keeps telling me we have 10 hours to go till we lie flat. We are currently on the ground in Dakar for refueling and new passengers. We are eyeing a 5 across empty row in the vicinity….hopefully the good people of Dakar are not traveling today.
6am Dakar from Barbara
The problem is that I didn't get four hours of sleep last night – thinking, like the optimistic fool I am, that somewhere between LA and Washington, DC (our nation’s capital) or at the very least between DC and Dakar – sleep would inevitably be part of my future
which I looped though my headphones repeatedly. I am definitely resorting to a pharmaceutic solution for the coming 8 hours to Joburg.
