Finally, when we got to the port, we got in a taxi, but more like the front of a truck with bench sitting in the back. We told our driver to take us to the bus station, but instead he pulled over on the side of the road and flagged down a big bus that was leaving town
We got to Ranong and to the pier. We took a long tailed boat across the river/bay to the country of Myanmar to get out of Thailand and to arrive again to get another 15 days in the country. The boat ride took quite awhile and the water was the most absolute dirtiest water we have ever seen. And it was splashing on us too. But the ride was okay and we had it back into Thailand, but probably carrying a new disease from the water. Once we got to the boarder, a guy and his posse guided us the 500 meters to the customs guy and even stamped our passports. When we were done he handed Brian a Myanmar bill and said it was a present. What? Money as a present...in a 3rd world country??? Sure enough the guy told Brian to go buy something with it. And then we wanted Thai money for his money (which is worth a lot more). When we said no thanks he was a little upset. We are sure making friends with the locals.
Ranong is a somewhat run down and we have to wait for 6 hours for our night bus to Bangkok. We're hanging out in a restaurant. They have a lot of cats here, lots. They are all a little malnourished, so when one came up to me, I thought I'd give her a little crumbs from my food. Now, I'm pretty sure I just gave her an Asama attack. We should really wait somewhere else. It's funny because the cats keep going up to Brian and they keep jumping up into his lap. If you know Brian at all, you know he doesn't like cats. They just keep going to him.
We finally got on our bus and took the 10 hour ride to Bangkok. Oh, how I missed Bangkok...
