We ended up taking an afternoon ferry over to the North Island.
MUCH better then the first time we crossed.  The sun was out and it was beautiful.  The first time, it raining the entire trip (3 hours) and I felt very sea-sick.  This time there was still a little more waves that I had hoped for, but it was much better.  The first part of the trip takes you through the Marlborough Sounds where there aren't any waves at all.     The middle part of the trip you are out on completely wide open ocean and the last part takes you through Palliser Bay and into Wellington Harbour.  What a stunning crossing.  We got into Wellington that afternoon around 4:30 and went to stay with a family we met while working the New Zealand Golf Open on the south island.  They came into my tent the last day and we got talking about traveling and such.  Petra and Mark have both traveled as well and they invited us to stay with them.  They are a fantastic couple.

They have an incredible house on a steep hill that overlooks the bay.  We are so lucky they invited us to stay.  Thank you Petra and Mark!!!  They also have 3 sons that we got to know a little bit.  The two youngest are huge New Zealand golfers, Peter and Thomas Spearman-Burns.  If you're a golfer, you may have heard about them.  They have won countless awards and tournaments.  It was fun staying with them and they made us delicious food!!!  We had some terrific dinners with them and Brian and I got to see a lot more of the Wellington area besides the downtown, where we were the first time.  We went to the top of Mount Victoria where you could see forever in all directions.

While in Wellington, we heard back from a few different families about us Wwoof'ing with them.  We choose the Martin family, one hour north of Wellington in Levin.  They have a HUGE dairy farm.  So we headed to their home on Friday afternoon.
