It really is beautiful walking down narrow lanes filled with wooden houses and lit lanterns only to find that our hotel was one of them.
The hotel is a homely little place with futons, tatami mat rooms and our own little garden from our room.
That evening we also headed out to get some food over the river in the newer part of the city which was very different indeed. Filled with people and very modern in comparison yet just over the river!
We have visited lots of the local and lot so local shrines including the octopus shrine and one for Brody called byodoji temple (sounds very similar and sells pet talismans!) all very different in their own way but all just as amazing as the last
We have also shopped... A lot :/ I have picked up a 'vintage' kimono with sandals as well as had my own 'umeko' name seal specially made whereas Leo has not shopped as much so when I say we I really mean me at this point. Oops.
It started off at the food market which I ate my way through, Leo tentatively tried bits and bobs I had but my approach was to try anything I didn't know what it was/had not had before. It worked out well this time!
Last but not least today we visited the Kyoto palace. A huge building filled with gold painted walls in a variety of rooms each one with a different design, theme and reason behind it. Surrounding this were beautiful gardens filled with trees, water features and all sorts.
For dinner we then headed to a crab resteraunt and had snow/queen crab in 11 different dishes including raw, grilled, boiled, gratin, soup and sushi.
Tomorrow we are off again, this time to Hiroshima!
Over and out!
