We boarded our flight from Cologne (Köln) to San Francisco via Amsterdam. We landed in SFO at 13:00 local time. We'd heard about the infamous US immigration from so many friends. Well, we experience it too this time. First it was the right finger & then the left finger prints with a photo of our so good looking face with jet lag. After collecting the bags, we met our uncle who'd come to pick us up. It was my uncle's birthday. But they hadn't planned anything special as my cousin had his football game & Homecoming that evening. We saw the match & then left to eat pizzas. We were dead tired & wanted to get back home. After dropping us home, my uncle's family left to watch the senior's game.
The next day after having the lovely brunch our aunt had prepared, we left to see the city of San Francisco. We first went to see the The Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the opening of the San Francisco Bay onto the Pacific Ocean was the longest suspension bridge in the World when it was completed in 1937. It was very windy & could feel the on-set of Fall. After having clicked a few snaps, we started to walk on the Bridge. After having reached the middle of the Bridge, we decided to head back as it was becoming very windy. We saw the Downtown & Northern part of San Francisco from the bridge & the Alcatraz prison island. The color of the bridge is International Orange, and was chosen in part because of its visibility in the fog. At mid-span of the bridge one is around 67 m or 220 feet.
It was late in the afternoon when we drove to the city center of San Francisco. We saw the Fisherman's Wharf, drove on Crooked street, had an ice cream at Ghirardelli & got ourselves sketched on paper by an artist who was on the street. Dosa & have south Indian food. Well, we live in a place, where it's hard to get Indian food, so even thinking of South Indian food makes me home sick. This place, Dosa was good & clean. My uncle kept saying, wait till you see the Thair Vade, you won't feel like eating it. We didn't know what to expect. Once we were served the dish, we were busy clicking snaps, instead of relishing it. See the snap. It looked like they'd drawn a rangoli over curd. We'd different types of dosas.
We returned home & aunt started preparing for dinner. They'd invited guests as it was the last day of Dasara. We met our cousin's fiance & played phase 10 till 2-3 am in the morning. Jet lag was taking it's toll on us. In spite of it, we were enjoying playing with everyone.
The next day in the afternoon we took our flight to Las Vegas from San Jose. We were to fly to Vegas & then to LA. The return flight to SFO was from LA on the 25th evening.
25th evening after we arrived from our trip to LA, we went to meet friends in Santa Clara. After having dinner with them, they dropped us to my uncle's place late in the night. It was my big day on the 26th. We went to seen Mystery Spot after having breakfast. For more information visit their website. It's simply impossible to explain here. See the video as well. Saravana Bhavan.
We headed home & waited for my aunt & cousins to return from school. Dinner was at Chevy's, a Mexican Restaurant. Next day, we flew back home again via Amsterdam. All in all it was a good trip. We plan to visit the west coast again.
