We spent the night on a beachtown named Cabarita (i think anyway). We woke up and saw how ginormous the waves were and decided to give it a try on the boogie board again. Some of the waves were over 15 feet high and I was constantly getting destroyed. I took one wave pretty good on the board but other than that it was 2 hours of pain and humiliation. There was no one on the beach. After 2 hours a lifeguard ran over to us and told us that the beach was closed because of the huge waves (which made sense). With no beach there wasn't much to do in Cabarita so we left for Surfers Paradise.
This is where me and Max's genious idea came together. We were going to both get hostel beds($30 each), but instead we decided that only one of us would get the room and the other would maybe get a bed if no one else showed up, but at least would get shower, kitchen, TV, and other access without having to pay
We pretty much hung out at the hostel all day and didn't do a whole lot. We were heading to this big market on the beach of Surfers when Max's roommate Boz bumped into us and said that he was heading to a free poker tournament (winner gets $100) and we should join. Max wussed out and refused to play because he said he didn't know how, but I played. I was doing amazing. After about an hour I had won several hands and had knocked out an experienced player on a straight flush. Out of the 50 people or so, I definitly was in the lead for a while. Beginners luck I guess. Then I got moved to another table because there were only 3 left at my table and my luck changed. I won the first hand, but lost a ton of my chips to a old guy who had a flush when I had 2 high pair. After that it was pretty much over. I had fun though.
I called home today and was really homesick and was missing Jess really bad. This was probably the first time that it really hit me hard. The poker tournament took my mind off things a little bit because I was quite depressed for a while.
After the poker, we headed to the market which was full of useless handmade crap. We then walked around town, there is a huge mall and shopping area with street entertainers (jugglers, escape artists, ect) that were interesting to watch. Hungout at the hostel, talked to some people, pretty fun day.

Domination
. So Max paid for the room and I got in free. It worked out that the room did fill up and I had to sleep in the car, but I still got to have a good shower and was able to watch some TV and relax.
