We slept in some random residential neighborhood last night, which turned out to be a pretty good choice.  No mosquitoes, no one bothered us, and there was a nice breeze off the ocean.  Had another meal of jelly and bread sandwhiches...Yummy!  Took a few hours and climbed up to the lighthouse that overlooks all of Byron and surrounding areas.  It was probably about a 6km walk round trip.  I didn't use enough sunscreen at all, I'm quite burnt.  That lighthouse is the eastern-most point in all of Australia.
Went back to Main beach and hung out there for a while.  Once again there was some craziness going on there,  most of which can not be mentioned.
Once it got dark we wandered around town and found a guy playing a diggerydo (sp).  It was pretty sweet.
