Today we checked out the Vatican area. Really massive, really significant place. I could speak about how huge and old and epic everything was, but pictures do a much better job of that.
Traffic here is stupid. People really don't care about much as they tear around the streets, so as a pedestrian things can be somewhat harrowing. We've found the Canadian strategy (waiting for someone to stop or for a break in traffic) entirely ineffective. Instead just walking INTO TRAFFIC provides the best results as it forces people to stop. If someone from Canada were to come down here tomorrow the first thing I would do is run into traffic just to see the reaction. It's ridiculous. Tonight I made a trip to the grocery store and made some tortellini with tomato sauce. Grabbed a super fresh french loaf too, the whole meal was so awesome and only cost three euro. The weather is great and I'm really enjoying just relaxing in Rome.
Tomorrow the idea is to get to our new hostel and then go wherever, no real plan. Forio on Monday will provide a change of scenery, and finally London on Saturday will cap off the trip! Looking at the map, I can't believe we've actually made it this far. I thought for sure we would have found ourselves stranded in Lyon or Genova; here's hoping for the luck to continue!! edit: sorry for the lack of pictures, i seriously have no luck uploading them. we are going to try to post more day to day pictures soon as well, not just the epic massive stuff. More thumbnails ...
