Royale with Cheese

We made it to Amsterdam. We have been totally blown away since getting off the train. The city is so gorgeous, there have been times where we walk into a building/monestary/whatever and can only react with gaping mouths. We saw a massive congregation at Dam Square with many troops in full uniform, there were too many people to get close but whatever it was, it was big.
The Red Light District has been really tame compared to what we've heard. There are well-endowed women in windows, yeah, but that's as far as it goes. Very touristy and it's apparent the area has been scaled back. Oh, there's a lot of cheese shops here. They really stink. Tons of Canadians here. Of all the people we've met, Canadians rank the most by far. All very friendly too. One guy has been travelling for 9 months and is heading back to Aurora in September. Anytime we even look puzzled, any Canadians in the area seem to give us a hand. It's really cool. We also helped two Brazilian ladies find places. We're total idiots on the roads though, huge amounts of people and we kinda just slam through them, apologizing the entire time. Playing the part, right?
Oh, abuot the title. All the McDonalds have regular menus, no Royales. I'm gonna try tomorrow anyway. Will keep you posted. Good quote as Ty and I walked across the street. He cut off a lady on a bike: "Tyler don't be an ass." "Lee don't get hit by the tram." "JESUS CHRIST!!". We've almost been hit at least five times. The hostel we stayed at last night was essentially a bar with rooms upstairs. To be fair it was really a hotel with a bar on the main floor. The rooms were clean and functional, with really clean sheets. I couldn't understand how they got the sheets so clean. Very party though, Ty and I were way too jetlagged to do anything though. Woke up multiple times in the night feeling like we needed to get out and do something, must be the body clock telling us it's 8pm when it's 4am here.
Crazy lady at our new hostel (The Bulldog) is very intimidating (for me at least). She wanted photo id but I only have my passport (should have brought my drivers license, you were right dad), but I refuse to let it leave my body. This led to a showdown between me and the crazy dutch hostel lady. Eventually she broke down and took a photocopy, but it took a bit of arguing. The place is newly renovated and will work okay, 10 bed room though, the most of the trip. We'll see how noisy it gets. I'm tired and a little homesick, but I know the jetlag is attributing to that. Miss you guys, and Kate I hope you guys are doing okay. Email me if you can :).

don't forget to goto the heniken brewery while your there! my hotel was right across from it and it was fun and well worth the 11(?)euros we paid. after you get your last beer if you hang out at that bar lots of people will give you their free beer tokens so you can get drunk for very cheap!
