What a sweetie my DH is!  Like any warm-blooded woman who is in Venice with the love of her life, I had expressed the desire to take a gondola ride.  Gondoliers don't come cheap, but for most of us, this is a once in a lifetime experience, no?  Long story short - we came across one, Dave negotiated a ride, and I found myself snuggled amongst pillows with my DH, while a handsome (think George Clooney, girls...) gondolier swept us along the canals for a perspective of Venice that rivals no other.
That gondola ride was the icing on the cake that was our day yesterday.  We (I?) enjoyed Murano immensely, and stayed so long that we didn't make it over to any of the other islands.  We dined last night at our favorite pizzeria, sitting outside and listening to the pianist, then topping off our dinner with cannoli from the pastry shop.
Because we purchased 48-hour passes for the vaporetto yesterday, today's plan is to just ride around all day and see where we wind up - sounds fun!  I've got the washing machine going now, so tonight we'll be packing again and tomorrow we head for the train station and the beginning of our Tuscan journey on Nonna and Boppa's Italian Adventure...
One more note... because I got to the computer first this morning, DH fixed breakfast for us.  (I tell ya, he's the BEST).  Dannon makes a yogurt that's fig.  I love it!  Guess they figure it wouldn't sell in the good old USA...
