Well, we've seen some of the sights of Georgetown now. Colonial Architecture (crumbly buildings), and saw some of the local culture (prostitutes), and some of their advanced Public Works systems (open sewers). And rain - lots of rain!

Aside from the highlights, we did go on the funicular railway up Penang Hill, which was lots of fun. The scenery at the top was wonderful looking out over Georgetown. Not quite as built up as Hong Kong, but still was pretty neat. We saw the typical macaques (monkeys) mooching for food, but we were lucky enough to also see a troop of dusky leaf monkeys, which are indigenous to Malaysia. We'd not seen this type of monkey before, and they are pretty wonderful - we watched two babies leap (and miss occasionally) from tree to tree, and an adult couple sitting together watching the sunset. It definitely made our day coming across them. That wasn't the only wildlife we encountered though - we got to hang out with an albino Burmese Python for a few minutes.....mostly to get our super touristy picture taken, but still!

Otherwise, we mostly just pottered about a bit....went to the mall....ate lots of food...tried to stay out of the heat and the rain as best we could.

Next stop is the Cameron Highlands!
Love,
K & M
