Hello All!

At the moment we are relaxing in a little town called Pai, in the north of Thailand. We headed here by bus (only four hours through mountains) on Tuesday morning and will be here until Friday morning. It seems like a really nice little place to live; there is lovely scenery about, and the town itself has a really cool "hippie" sort of vibe about it. Only problem possibly is....tourists? There are only about 3000 residents of Pai, but there are heaps and heaps of guesthouses, restaurants, tour booking offices, travel agencies, etc. as there are normally a lot more tourists than locals! Still, at the moment it seems pretty quiet for all.

We rented a scooter today and headed out to see the local sights, which was a good way to spend a day. We got to see garlic being harvested - now when I guess I sit down and think about it, of course garlic is a bulb - but for some reason it suprised me at the time to see the farmers pulling it out of the ground! We stopped to have a rest and a drink at a really lovely cafe that had a grass roof full of wild flowers as well - it was so pretty!

Otherwise, we really didn't do a lot with our time in Pai - ate lots, relaxed and just enjoyed ourselves. Its that sort of place I think where no one is in a rush to do much, so your pace really slows down while you are there (not that we are fast movers anyway!!)

Next stop is the bus back to Bangkok for the flight on Sunday morning to Yangon.

All our love,
K & M
