Happy New Year to one and all!!!
Last night we went for a fantastic slap up meal with our Alaskan friends Shawn and Jenny. We did manage to find a bar that was open until midnight to ring in the New Year, but I think we were home by about 12:15. Sheesh are we getting old or what!!
Bright and early yesterday morning we had to say goodbye to the (remaining) snakes, turtles and frogs and hopped on a bus north to Chau Doc - our last place in Vietnam. I must admit that saddens me; I have really enjoyed our time here.
Today we went to Sam Mountain, which is just a couple of kilmetres from the city center, but feels miles apart. Its a small hill that is dotted with temples, pagodas, and graves. We stopped to visit one small temple and a monk invited us to have tea and even gave us each a banana. It was wonderful.
At the bottom of the hill is the Tay An Pagoda, which was well worth the visit - it contained hundreds of wooden carvings which were absolutely beautiful.
Tomorrow we are heading out by boat to Cambodia - I can't believe it!!
Love,
K & M
