Well, we did arrive eventually in Quy Nhon. We left by bus from Hoi An at about 6pm and were to arrive in Quy Nhon at about 11pm.......which in reality was 1:30am. We did haggle a bit and eventually hopped onto a couple of xe oms (scooter taxis) as the bus dropped us off about 10kms from town. A few minutes after we got onto the scooters, with our backpacks too, it started to rain.....and then it started to pour.....I mean really pour. Now, I would've assumed that this would mean that the scooter driver would slow down, but instead they sped up a lot. By the time we made it to the city centre my driver tried to cross onto a road through a puddle - which was actually a curb and a sidewalk, and then a road. We got a bit stuck and I thought he was going to make me push. Never mind, we did get there in the end and they were nice enough to wake up someone in the hotel to actually open up and get us a room.
We slept in a little late this morning, and spent today walking about with another British couple. Quy Nhon is not really a pretty town, but it is fairly interesting for a couple of days I guess. Its more of a working fishing city than a tourist city, which was certainly a change after Hoi An. There is a really long beach right in the city centre, but unfortunately, its pretty full of litter. It was pretty funny to see the locals drying fish in the road though!
On the road to Kon Tum tomorrow. Will write more then.
Love,
