Hello -

Took the overnight train from Hanoi to Sapa, which was surprisingly comfortable. Arrived very early on Saturday morning, and slept most of the morning. Walked about Sapa (trying to avoid the minority tribe ladies trying to sell us things) for a bit and settled in for a leisurely lunch at Baguette et Chocolat to plan the next few days. Had we only known that that would be our only sunny day.......

Spent most of yesterday at Baguette et Chocolat again, eating, and reading our books. It did clear a little bit in the afternoon to take a few pictures at least. This morning, we woke to a fog so thick that it makes Scotch Mist look like a sunny day! Its so wet in the air, its unbelieveable. Everything feels damp like you got rained on, but its not actually raining. Still - Sapa is the coldest place in Vietnam.....we did know that before coming here. I must admit, I assumed that meant that places would have heating systems though.....

We are here for another couple of days, and are hoping desperately that the weather might clear a bit. We are really hoping to head to the Tram Ton Pass, and possibly we might walk to a minority tribe village. It is very wonderful to see the ladies in the town with their traditional clothing on, and the handicrafts they produce are pretty spectacular. No room in the backpack though!

We are having problems uploading pictures to the site - the internet connections are very limited at the moment. We will try our best soon to get a bunch loaded.

All our love,
Karyn & Malcolm

DVD pictures
We have checked disk#1 and everything is OK. It arrived in 8 days. It must have bypassed a certain Quebec city. A copy has been made for backup and now we want MORE! I hope the sunshine returns to warm you up again.
Love, Momma & John
