I'm in Italy now in Monterosso! Yes, that's quite a jump from just being in Spain. The cruise from Barcelona to Genoa was interesting... They seem to try to keep people occupied at all times - piano bar has entertainment 9pm-10pm, main lounge has entertainment 10pm-12am, club starts 12am. All their entertainment was cheesey and quite bad. I was constantly shaking my head. The crowd was mostly a much older crowd...I could count the number of people around my age on my fingers. So it wasn't exactly a happenin' scene. The next day was kind of similar but I tried to just hang out on deck (despite it being a bit cold).

Lonely Planet had nothing good to say about Genoa, so I got out quick. I caught the train to Monterosso and found a place to stay. It's right on the ocean with cliffs rising behind it. I plan on hiking around the Cinque Terre trail the next day or two, though part of it is closed. Hopefully, the weather will be ok and I can get some good pics.
