We left Niagara and drove through Buffalo, New York, Pennsylvania and into Ohio and found a Thousand Trails campground to stay at. There were frogs everywhere...

We survived the frogs and drove to a Thousand Trails in Indiana. We stopped by a Bob's Big Boy for lunch and a Stuckey's. You may be asking why we didn't go to Chicago. Well, I read the Let's Go book and only saw like one or two things I was only marginally interested in seeing. Plus Josh was in a bit of a hurry to get home so he could get back up to Alaska to earn money during the fishing season.

May 10 had us continuing on to St Louis. Went to the Gateway Arch and up to the top. Josh swore it was swaying (he has a fear of heights) so we didn't stay up there long. Went on a tour of Budweiser. Got to see the horses and have some free beer, though the honey roasted peanuts were better than the beer. Went to the campground and setup our stuff and watched some tv.

Drove through Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and to Omaha, Nebraska. Josh's uncle lives there so we stayed with them. He has an impressive Hamm's beer memorabilia collection.
Went out to Fremont and found the farm where my dad grew up. It's just a small town so nothing to do there. Back to Omaha and watched some more of the Sonics.
We went to the Omaha Zoo the next day. It had a cool jungle/rainforest and aquarium. Just hung out at the house again in the evening.

We drove the short bit to Lincoln and met up with Josh's cousin, Mark, and his wife. Mark took us on a tour of the university. Went to Grand Island to see another uncle. We were treated to a steak dinner and more tv watching.

May 15 we headed west through Nebraska and north into the Dakotas. On our way we passed by Carhenge so had to stop for a photo. Into South Dakota where we saw the Crazy Horse Monument and Mt Rushmore. Found ourselves a campsite in the area. Played some basketball there in the evening.

Made a detour into Wyoming to see Devil's Tower. That's pretty weird just sticking up out of nowhere. No close encounters while there though. Back into South Dakota and to the Badlands. Some of the scenery there is cool. We continued on to Pierre and camped for free in the city park. We watched "Twister" that evening while there was a tornado watch on for the area.

Headed north to Minot, North Dakota. The middle of nowhere. Josh's friend, Craig, was working as a tv reporter there. We met up with his friend, hung out and then went to a bar.
Sat around pretty much all day not doing much of anything. Watched some of the Sonics later and out to another bar in the evening.
Josh, Craig and I went out and played some golf the next day. It rained off and on while we were playing. Went out for pizza in the evening.

The Midwest wasn't too exciting. It was cool to at least see Mt Rushmore but I wouldn't make a special trip just to go there. It bugged me that Josh had us in such a hurry to get back home yet we spent four days in the Omaha area not doing much and three days in bfe Minot.
