We spent the evening in Alun-Alun Kidul (or Selatan, whatever!) trying our luck with the blindfold again.  No one made it through, but we had some good laughs as each of us got close to success..

We've been joined in Jogja by Dian's boyfriend Brad!  He's been traveling throughout Asia for the last month (Korea, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore) and will be in Jogja for the next week or so. We've welcomed the new addition, even if he can't drive a 3-person bicycle.  It's no easy feat!  I could hardly drive it myself, especially with the Indonesian drivers zooming past us on both sides.

After pressing our luck on the road and between the trees, we grabbed a mat across the street from the warungs nearby.  We satiated ourselves with jagung bakar (grilled corn) and kopi (coffee).  I've waited more than a month to try that corn, and it was worth the wait.  I recommened the asin (salty) or manis (sweet), just don't go for the salty, sweet, and spicy variation -- stay far away from that one.

Sitting in the square on a warm July night surrounded by friends and the jingles of street performers, I feel a million miles away from my life back home. The million miles may be a slight exaggeration, but it truly is a delightful feeling to have no real concerns or worries - to take in all that Jogja has to offer and spend our time soaking up the benefits of such relaxation. My hope is that when each of us returns to our hectic lives in the states we will hold on to this time together. With only two weeks left in Jogja, I can already feel the anxiety of the upcoming semester creeping my way...

But now - just for now - my largest concern lies within the walls of the alun-alun.

I swear that next time one of us will make it through those two trees..!
