Where I stayed
Beachfront camping at McCrae
There were several kms of bike tracks so we took the bikes off the back of the camper and went for a ride. It was a great way to see the island and the wildlife. After the ride we stopped at the cafe and had a yummy lunch. There happened to be a vintage car show there at the time so there were a few people around but we still got a seat and had a good feed to recharge us after the bike ride.
After lunch we headed off, we took a slight detour to see Cape Woolomai but only had a quick look
The campsite was awesome, the birdlife plentiful and the evening was getting chilly. We had a quick walk on the beach before dark then cooked up a chicken risotto before checking out the shower block. My shower had a few hiccups to start with and wouldn't stay hot, I tried "turning it off and on again" a few times then tried reducing the pressure. Suddenly I almost got scalded by billion-degree water. A few adjustments and all was well. After my nice warm shower I went outside to find Julie shivering outside the shower block. She said that she had no hot water at all. Bloody council camping showers!
The TV and internet reception was great so we had plenty of entertainment for the evening. The sound of the waves soon made us sleepy so we called it a day.
