It took me a whole day to drive thirty miles...well, maybe it was thirty-five...every bend, and curve in the road revealed a new feast for the eyes to devour.  My camera doesn't do justice to the views I was seeing.  But, before I got going to far...maybe 11 miles...I stopped at the info center that was closed and ended up having a coffee and breakfast with a couple I had noticed taking photos in Fruita.  They invited me to join them...what a great conversation we had.  They were from Southern California...Dave and Patty.  He was a professional photographer and she was in real estate and worked for a bank.  They gave me their card and told me to stop in when I arrived in langoon??? and they would show me around.  Sigh.  People are great!
It was a very steep climb over Boulder mountain to the itsy, bitsy town of Boulder...for minutes on end after I saw the sign "Welcome to Boulder", I kept thinking somehow I had missed it.  But, I finally stumbled across it about 10 miles from the sign.  Very small, the gas station served as one of the main grocery stores...but, they were cool enough to have an organic vegetarian Restaurant and a tiny organic and natural food grocery store!

I camped at Deer Creek Campground and chatted with yet, another couple around my campfire...finally got to burn the wood I'd been packing around since Green River ;0)  She (I'm temporarely forgetting her name) also gave me her address and told me I could stay with her in Seattle....Man, I've got to start taking advantage of these offers...;0)
The next day, I hiked up the upper Gultch Canyon for a 10 mile round trip was pretty, but not I getting overly spoiled or what!  Then, I drove off to Calf Creek Campground in the late afternoon.
