A good first week back at school. I'm determined not to grumble about work as the time is running away from me and I want to try to appreciate every day here.

The highlight of the week at school was receiving letters from the year 4 children at home, that had taken 3 1/2 months to arrive! The kids here were so excited and matching them up, letting them enjoy their letters and write back was one of my favourite moments this year! We also received a Chislehirst card from my auntie Julie, which they loved too! I've got a new girl in my class which brings me back up to 20. The smaller class size is such a huge perk of being here. It makes everything so much easier to manage.

I was so tired and skint from the holidays that I had a very quiet week. However, I did enjoy tea out at my local 'the cally' with Raquel and Ilaria, who is an Italian girl working in Hamilton too. She also went to NT in the hols so it was good to catch up. Friday night was more gorging myself (you can tell it's winter!) Dinner at The Roxborough with my neighbour and Tania (Anthony's sister in law). A 'yummo' pork belly, wine, log fire and great company!

Sunday was my big event for the weekend. We left Hamo at 6.30am to go to Portland on a whale watching boat trip. My expectations for the size of the boat were rather high!! Think a yacht with champagne was a bit much!! We were out at sea for 4 hours in peak whale season and guess how many we saw.... None!! Bugger! We did see a pod of dolphins who followed us, leaping through the air much to my delight! That was pretty cool! We saw one special seal who was laying on its side with one fin in the air! Finally I saw a lot of Rhiannon,s back and a little bit of vom! Poor girl was sick was about 2 1/2 hours. Was cool to go out on a little jet boat for the morning but we were disappointed campers on the whale front!
