Our last day in the Disney Parks. We wanted to make the very most of the day but I was a bit concerned as I saw the crowds. It was definitely going to be a busier day than the previous ones. Maybe it was because of the July 4th holiday coming up or maybe Mondays are busier days... not sure of the reason.

At any rate, we were told that because we stayed at a Disney Resort Hotel (Paradise Pier) we would be able to enter the park earlier (9:30) than it's official opening time (10:00) and we could ride Little Mermaid. A great surprise for us! Then instead of getting in at 9:30 we were actually able to enter the park at 9:00! Another great surprise! We weren't sure if Little Mermaid would have long lines of hotel guests and so were very happy to see there was no line whatsoever! We had been waiting to ride Little Mermaid for over a year and had heard stories about 5 hours waits and so were very excited to be able to just walk onto the ride! Then to make it even better, we got off the ride and got right back on! We rode Little Mermaid four times within 45 minutes. And it only took that long because we paused and did lots of pictures. After our fourth time through, we decided to get in the line to enter the rest of the park (which opened at 10).

After the opening, we hurried to Toy Story. It's such a popular ride and the wait is always an hour or more. Because we got there so early, we only had a 15 minute wait. We love riding that ride! We figured it would be our only time this trip with the crowds. Yet, we were surprised again later in the day when a ride we were on broke down and in 'apology', the ride operator gave us fast passes to be used on any ride in the parks! (and the ride got fixed later and the girls rode it so that made it even better!) So, even though Toy Story doesn't have a fast pass, we were still able to use our special pass and ride it again - with no wait! We also had got fast passes for Grizzly Rapids and the ride went down for the day so once again, we were given a special pass and rode Toy Story a third time. This time Stephanie won the cat. I'm not exactly sure what the means but I know she was pretty excited when we exited the ride. (This is Steph - I got the cat level which was the highest I or anyone in my family had gotten!) And on one of our rides, Stephanie beat Greg's score which also made Stephanie pretty happy! So we were feeling pretty good having ridden Toy Story three times and Little Mermaid 4 times with hardly any wait time involved!

We did wait quite awhile to see Dug (from the movie UP) but one, UP is my favorite movie and I just really wanted to see the characters. And two, I have pictures of the girls with Disney characters all through the years and having a picture with Dug was going to be a great addition to our collection of pictures. So, it was worth the wait!

After pictures with Dug, we headed over to Disneyland. We still had not used our special fast passes from the hotel so we headed over to Indiana Jones. It was so great to bypass the long line and only wait about two minutes! We've always liked this ride but now even more since we watched the Indiana Jones movies after our last visit. Then we did Jungle Cruise. This is the ride that broke down and got us our fast passes that we used on Toy Story. Halfway through our Jungle Cruise, the boat in front of us stopped working. So, we did Jungle Cruise backwards. It was actually pretty neat to do that. Our guide wasn't particularly funny so we were going to end up riding it again (the jokes are what makes this ride) to get a better guide. So, nothing lost and we got fast passes - and truly saw the backside of water! Later in the day the girls rode Jungle Cruise again and this time they had a fantastic guide.

We ate lunch at the Big Thunder Round Up. It was all decorated for the 4th of July and there was a small band playing great country music. So, we just enjoyed a great lunch of ribs, cole slaw, beans, and corn bread and enjoyed some shade, music and a bit of time to relax.

Then we went to Storybook Land (another favorite over the years) and we worked it so we walked by right as the parade was ending. The ride is closed during the parade so by walking by right as it ended, we were able to be one of the first ones in line for the ride upon reopening. Another surprise we hadn't planned on. It was sure nice to ride it with little wait.

We still had one fast pass from the hotel left and so we decided to ride Star Tours again. With the new features they've added to the ride, every ride is different. So, it was definitely worth using our fast pass (and bypass the 90 minute wait) to ride Star Tours again.

One of the things the girls really wanted for a snack was a mint julep and mickey shaped biegnets. So, even though we weren't really hungry, we decided to get our snack since we were close by. After making a complete mess with powdered sugar, we went back over to California Adventures.

We did some of the less popular attractions (ie Bugs Life) and then went to watch the new Tron show. The first part was a bunch of singing and dancing but the second part was Laserman, and that was really good! He did a lot of really neat things with lasers. We couldn't figure out how they did it (which is usually the case at Disney) which made it even better. The "grid" lights and all the special effects were amazing.

Then it was time to head back to Disneyland to get a place to watch Fantasmic. We got there just as the first show was ending so we were able to secure a spot right up at the railing for the second show. So nice to have front row seats! While we waiting and saved our spots, the girls rode Jungle Cruise (with the funny guide) and then we all waited for the show. The dragon in Fantasmic was fixed from the last time we were there, so it was neat to have that back. We always enjoy watching Fantasmic!

It was getting close to closing time and we're always sad to say goodbye to Disneyland. Somehow over the years it's become tradition to ride Small World for our last ride. So, we walked over to Fantasy Land and rode Small World. It was very fitting as the theme at Disnyland this year is Let the Memories Begin. And we have so many incredible, special memories of all the times we've been to Disney and Small World is definitely a part of those memories.

With Tracy graduating and Stephanie turning 17, my visits to the Disney Parks with my "little girls" are coming to an end. Oh, we'll still visit Disney - we'll never stop doing that. But it will be a new time, a new day and with my girls all grown up. Thanks for the memories Disneyland! You've made a lot of dreams come true and we've had so many magical times on our visits. As we left the park, we left the world of Yesterday, Tomorrow, and Fantasy, and entered a whole new adventure of graduation, college and the future!
