Ok friends and family. I have decided that this was possibly the best choice of my entire life. I was close to choosing not to venture to Costa Rica because of my upcoming trip to Spain in the fall. But after all that I have experienced so far, I have no regrets and I thank everyone who made this trip possible for me, especially my parents.

Having said that, my volunteer project was amazing. Our group of nine students became so close, I never thought it would be possible in only two weeks to become such good friends with strangers. But when youre with people from sunrise till bedtime you get to know eachother in a deep way very rapidly. Im so impressed with this trip already, and I havent even started the best part yet: the adventure tour.

Tomorrow at 5.30 AM I am going to get on a bus to take me to the river Pacuare for a 3 day river white-water rafting excursion. the group is larger now, about 35 people. Three whole volunteer groups to be exact, and I could not be more excited. I am totally stocked with everything I need to suceed.

Today was friday, August 11. I left the farm and said good bye to everyone this morning before 6AM. I got back to Heredia and met all my old friends from spanish lessions. I think everyone had as good of a time as me, but I still think that my experience was the best, and they could never compare if only they knew. But Im sure they say the same thing, so its equal. So we ate a wonderful dinner at a French restraunt, crapes and wine, and then we went out to a discoteque, or dance club. Its 2.30 am here and I just got back. I have to leave tomorrow at 5.30 am on the bus so my life is crazy right now, usually going at about 300 kilometers per hour. But I like it this way... Ill sleep when I get home.

So I will go rafting for 3 days, then to an eco-lodge in the jungle for 2 more days. After that I{ll go to Tortuguero, a national park on the Carribean coast where lots of turtles live and go to lay their eggs. its a very special place, protected by international treaties. So I will be totally out of touch for the next week or so, while Im knee deep in poisonous frogs and tucans and monkeys. This is the life. For Real!

Here in Costa Rica, the people say Pura Vida. Pure Life. Its like saying, Cool man. How are you? Pura Vida. And thats really how things are! It took me a while to understand, but now I know what it means and Im glad that I could reach this point. I feel so welcomed by the CostaRicans, its amazing. For example, my friends kinda left us at the dance club tonight, because they met some women. So I was telling my story to some locals, and they gave us a ride back to the hotel! I am repeatedly impressed by the sincerity of the people here, and I have no fear of taking a ride from a stranger anymore.

So my life is just great and I hope everything is going well for you too. Leave me a message in the comments section to let me know how youre all doing and Ill post again in about a week to let you all know that I survived the amazing Costa Rican Rapids!
