We spent the day touring around the stunning PhangNga Bay. Our boatman Bau was waiting for us in the morning with his longtail boat and fresh water and we started our journey. The guy didn't speak much English, but tried to make this up by singing like a Venetian gondoliero. We spent hours floating among strange islets jutting out of the water, through caves with ancient drawings and canoeing around small caves and limestone formations. We managed to keep out of the crowds for most of the time, except for our canoe tour of Hong Island and the visit in the National Park area, including the famous James Bond island and Leaning Rock. We had a brief recess for swimming and resting in a small lonely beach and just when it was about to start raining, we found a shelter in a restaurant at Ko Panyi. The place is incredibly beautiful, but I doubt one can really appreciate its charm if loaded on a big tourist boat with hundreds of tourists. After our late lunch we had to get back, as we had to travel to Phuket and find our hotel. Unforunately, by the time we got to Phuket it was already dark and finding the hotel was not very easy. We took a wrong way to Kata, via Patong and had to ask directions several times. In the end, we got to Kata and drove up and down the mainroad for a couple of times until we found one guy who knew where Boomerang was. Later, we saw there were signs on the road but in the darkness we had missed them. The reception was on top of a hill and going through the narrow streets we fell in a big hole in the road, luckily getting away without a scratch on the rented car. In the end we got to the reception and checked in. Our rooms were in another builing, on another hill, but the staff was helpful and took us there promptly. The room was nice and we were happy to relax in the end of the long and exciting day.
