Magnetic Island has been a kick ass place from the beginning.  the ferry over from townsville was whicked fast and the breeze was more than welcome because its really hot and humid here.  a bus straight from the ferry to our hostel, and we're looking out over tropical blue/green ocean water from the massive common area infront of the bar/restuarant and beside the pool from our hostel.  our dorm room is auctually a seperate cabin, even thought the a/c is shit its still pretty cool.

the first day sean and i wasted the morning waiting for our dive medical for our ssi open water dive certification course were starting today, then went to the koala sanctuary.  that was pretty killer, learned lots about oz wildlife and got to interact with the animals.  held a baby crocodile, lizards, a pythong, a koala, feed cockatoos and parrots out of my hand.  sweet as.

yesterday sean and i rented mopeds.  although my masculinity was feeling slightly diminished, it was kick ass ripping around the entire island and hiking.  we hiked up to a waterfall and chilled in the pool with the locals, went swimming in horseshoe bay on the opposite side of the island inside the stinger net, hiked up to the abandoned military lookout from WWII, got a fresh squeezed juice from the side of the road stand, and terrorized the local wildife along the side streets until our time ran out.  then last night we caught the bus with 15 or so friends from the oz bus and went to the local watering hole for toad racing.  even though i lost $50 on a lame ass toad, all proceedes go to surf rescue so its all good

starting our diving course in about 20min so i gotta rap this up.  pretty pumped about the full moon party here tomorrow, hopefully i wont be feeling to rough for diving the next day.  thought id end with a quote:
"knowledge is knowing a tomatoe is a fruit.  wisdom is knowing not to put tomatoe in fruit salad."
