We had mixed feelings about comming back from fraser island today.  despite being sunburnt, unshowerd, having sand everywhere, getting little to no sleep, drinking and smoking waaaay to much, and living out of a truck with 9 other people, i think any of us would have stayed longer if we could have.

we met cogan, tex, the swedes, and two really cool british girls (claire and susie) and the other two groups for our orientation on the friday.  got the fear of god put into us about the dangers of fraser, but that didnt stop anyone from having an awesome time.  we got fairly tipsy that night in the hostel until the bar closed, then got a few quick hours of sleep and checked out by 7am the next morning.  we got the run through of how the truck and 4-wheel drive worked, then went in a mass group shopping spree for food, smokes, and booze for the trip.  couple hundred dollars and some party hats later, we were on our way.  the stereo crapped out after one song, so we sang at the top of our lungs until we got a small set of portable ipod speakers.  we by far had the most kick-ass party group of the trip

once we got onto the island at 10am or so, we immediatly started power drinking/off roading our way to lake watango (or something like that) and after a 45min hike to get there we swam for chilled in a killer lake surrounded by a big sand hill for awhile.  it was awesome running down the hill full speed and cannonballing into the lake (kinda sketchy in places cause it got really shallow)  then we hiked to the beach and made some chicken sandwiches and drank/wrestled until we had to make miles cause the tide can trap u in. drove up to eli creek and made camp on the beach.  definetely got really messy that night, we were all completely wasted and played aton of drinking games.  random people hooked up with people from other groups left right and center, which was pretty funny the next morning

next day we woke up early and walked to eli creek for a swim after breakfast.  after we checked out the giant shipwreck on the beach from the 1930's when there was a cyclone over the whole area.  next we drove to the cliffs at the end of the beach and had a few woobly pops on the very edge, saw a few sharks/manta rays in the crystal clear water way down below.   then we walked an hour or so to champange pools, a series of large tidal pools that bubble like champange when the ocean crashes over soft-barnacle covered rocks.  really really cool place, def worth the walk.  then we drove to central station and made camp with the other groups.  i got high-school drunk drinking straight vodka with a girl from isreal and passed out early (apperently there are girls out there who can drink me under the table)  but the rest of the pack partied hard until the early morning.

today we drove to lake mackenzie, a whicked beautiful completely clean and fresh lake and swam for hours.  got pretty tanned and drove back to the ferry.  back home were all pretty tired, but were gonna rip it up tonight before everybody finally says goodbye and goes seperate ways :(
definetely one of the best experiences of my life, i would highly recommend the self-drive trip to anyone.  gotta run for some mexican food and shit-loads of beer
